Peony Garden DSP

It's the annual DSP sale and this amazing Peony Garden designer series paper (DSP) is on the list.  The Peony Garden DSP is a neutral based design with a muted Petal Pink to add a few highlights.  You'll also see in my post today how to make that neutral design pop with color.

Also...you'll see how to literally "double" your cardstock with layers.

The first thing you'll need is to cut your pieces.  You'll need your standard card base (I used Soft SeaFoam): 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, a mat (basic black) 5 1/8x 3 7/8, and then the dsp at 4x6.

You'll cut the DSP like in the photo (see text on photo)

Then using the large dsp piece (which should be 3 3/4x5 and the black mat, you will grab the amazing RECTANGLE STITCHED DIES.

Once you have the middle cut out of the DSP, you will be able to color it in using the Stampin' Blends.  I personally started with the light smoky slate to fill in the background color.  Next I did the Soft Seafoam for leaves.  Going to coloring the flowers, I started with the dark blend going over the lines in the dsp and then over the whole flower with the lighter blend.  Lastly, I added the dark smoky slate to flower insides for contrast.

And don't forget to use those blends to color your pearls as well!  I stamped a saying onto Soft Seafoam and punched it out with the circle punch.  Also added a small strip of vellum over the top with the pearls for a little flare.  Don't forget the dimensionals!
