Technique Tuesday: Heat Embossed Dots

Today's blog post is showcasing Heat Embossing. I know this technique can be a smidge intimidating but trust me, the results are amazing. Join me and my colleagues as we focus on this amazing method.

One of my favorite things to do when heat embossing is to do this on top of the metallic paper.

For this card, I used Rose Gold Specialty Paper with Copper Embossing Powder. Included in the Rose Gold Specialty Paper pack are 3 different finishes: iridescent, matte, and metallic. For my card I used the metallic finish which is a just like a shiny foil.

Stampin' Up! offers 2 packages of embossing powders. The first group includes black, clear, and white while the second grouping has copper, gold, and silver.

I thought that the copper hue coordinated the best with the rose gold paper. To contrast the metallic background, I brought in Blackberry Bliss and Basic White colors.

Now let's not forget the other rose gold item we carry, Rose Gold & White 5/8" Striped Ribbon.  As you can see in the above picture, I used the Stampin' Blends to color the ribbon, light Blackberry Bliss.

You can also see the added texture on the saying the ring of cardstock too.  Texture is one of the things I really love on a card.  I can add a bit more by using Stitched dies or the edge of my paper snips to rough things up.

Below you will find a shopping list for everything except the stamps and pearl embellishment.  These items are from the new Mini Catalog (Jan-April 2023) that starts on January 5th.  Please reach out with any questions!

Let The Stars Shine: Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop

Don't we all have dreams?  And when we were little (or even right now) aspired to be a star?  I know I did.  I wanted to be Reba McEntire.  Everything about Reba is great...her voice is unique, her hair is red, and she's super funny...plus not only is she an amazing singer but also actress too.  What star did you want to be?

If you haven't guessed, the theme for this hop is Movies & TV.   My card was inspired by the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Whenever I think of stars, I think of glitz and glamor.  And what's more star like than silver and gold?!?

Silver and gold are so easy to use and you can really make any color pop.  I wanted to keep this a "neutral" card so I added this amazing Bermuda Bay hue.    To keep the blue from showing through the mercury glass acetate, I added a layer of basic white.

The silver acetate is actually the backside of the Rococo Rose colored Hydrangea Hill Mercury Glass Designer Acetate.  Two colors for the price of one.
To make the GOLD pop, I heat embossed the saying as well.

To add the finishing touches of glitz, I added a few basic rhinestones colored with a Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends.

I hope you enjoyed my creation!  Make sure to check out the other Movie & TV inspired projects on the other blogs.  Have a great day!

Friends are Like Seashells: Share It Sunday Blog Hop

It's already time for Share it Sunday Blog Hop which takes place on the last Sunday of the month.  I love this hop as we can make whatever whatever fancy little thing we want to create.

My creation features the Friends Are Like Seashells bundle.  I was going for a natural beach look and then added a pop of color.

To get the effect I wanted for the seashells, I added all the images to one large block.  I inked everything in VersaMark and then inked right over in Crumb Cake.  After stamping, I used clear embossing powder to seal in the crumb cake vibrancy.

Next, I used Champagne Shimmer Paint and a blending brush to cover the seashells in this fine glitter shimmer.  I also used this technique over the top of Sahara Sand cardstock to give the "sand" a glittery morning sunshine gleam.

The texture of the ribbon with the gold along with the elements of the seashells adds needed life to this slim line card.  The stamped tone on tone "sea weeds" brings in depths as well.

The inside of the card is finished with a gold embossed saying and a few leftover shells, with shimmer of course.

I hope you enjoyed my Share It Sunday project.  Make sure to visit the other creations in this blog hop.

Thank you for visiting!  -Elizabeth
