My wonderful father turned 60 earlier this month (my parents are only 8 days apart in age) and I created this Pop Up Box Card. HE LOVES FROSTING AND CAKE!
I stamped the sentiment on clear acetate with StazOn and placed it over the stamped Pineapple Punch mat. For the pop up pieces, I use clear acetate to hold up the pieces. I like this look as you don't see all the paper and they appear to be floating.
I also added a row of candles. Since these have adhesive already on the back, I added them to the strip and then used my embossing buddy on the back to so it wouldn't stick to the other parts of the card. Another row shows the numbers (retired dies) and then using the balloon punch, I added several very easily.
On the outside of the "card" I added some tone on tone. I didn't want it to stand out but I didn't want it to be plain either. I smeared the ink pad over the card base. The stamped and punched out the cakes which were stamped in the same hue as the paper.
You can see how well everything works together. The designer series paper brought my color scheme t o life! This paper is designed as a "traveling" theme but I found it worked very well for this card...so you can't just limit things to what they're "designed" for.
And of course... a picture of my Dad holding his amazing card.
