Sunflower Showcase: October SU Color Challenge

I love to have a little challenge and the SU Color Challenge is a great way for me to think outside the box.  These colors instantly screamed fall to me.

The sunflower really made these colors pop!  Granny Apple Green, Cajun Craze,  Crushed Curry, and Early Espresso.

This amazing image looks great colored in or tone on tone.  When I colored, all the colors used weren't in the Blends collection.  So I used a combination of blends and markers to get the colors that I needed to complete the challenge.

I have really enjoyed making these "slim" line cards as well.  I really love this layout with the larger sunflower.  To create the background, since the wood grain embossing folder isn't as long as the cardstock, you will line up the edge of the last panel with the edge of the cardstock that isn't embossed.   Just make sure to turn it the right way so that the raised/debossed parts of the background go the same direction.

I hope you enjoyed this creation!  I know it's a bit past October and the new challenge out but wanted to share this amazing creation with you!

LEAVE ME A COMMENT!  I appreciate it!

SU! Colour Challenge- September

I've been looking around for inspiration and challenges to help enhance my creativity.  I had the day after Labor Day off and found this SU! Colour Challenge on Facebook.  They host a monthly challenge to use different colors.   Here is what I came up with!

The color challenge included:  Magenta Madness, Petal Pink, Mango Melody, Balmy Blue, and Granny Apple Green.  Since there was this lovely green color, I went towards nature.  In nature there are so many bright bold nature hues I knew it would be a wonderful match.

Another thing I love is unusual colored Christmas Cards.  So I grabbed one of my favorite holiday sets. Peaceful Boughs (pg 57 Annual Catalog).  Of course, I didn't want to make a Christmas card yet, so I added in the thanks die cut from Well Written die set (pg 183 annual catalog).

I wanted to add a mixture of stamping with die cut images.  The plain solid colors didn't look right but after adding a little sponging in the same color...everything popped!  The stamped pine swap in the background anchored the pine bouquet.  I also needed some Balmy Blue ribbon, so I colored it using the Stampin' Blends.  This is just a white crinkled seam binding ribbon and now it matches perfectly!

Lastly...gotta add some color to the envelope and inside of the card.  I used the Well Said Stamp Set (which coordinates with the Well Written Dies).  This stamp and die set is amazing with so many different choices, you can't go wrong.

I hope you enjoyed my sample for the September Colour Challenge.
