Got SCRAPS???

I just love swap cards!  When you scroll down you'll see the original card I cased this from.  I received it during a swap at leadership.  I just LOVE this idea.  It's super easy to do and if you have scraps, it's really awesome!

I just loved this new paper, Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper in the occassions catalog.  I think with the subtle colors it really makes the Wisteria Wonder stand out.  After I adhered my squares, I ran the whole front through the big shot with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I think it makes it look quilted!

By adding the Sahara Sand Lace Ribbon under the Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding Ribbon gives a softer look.  I also LOVE the Vintage Faceted Buttons too.  It gives a little bit of pop but doesn't interfere with the colors.

Here's the card that I received in the swap.  Thanks for sharing Janet!

Columbus Crop Card Buffet

For those of you who don't know, semi annually I host the Columbus Crop.  This is a fund raiser for the Parent Association at Columbus Catholic Schools where my children attend.  At this event, I host a "card buffet."  What is that you ask?!?!  Well it's just like a regular buffet, where you get as much or as little of an item as you like.  So if you really love this card, you can make one or five.  You pay $2 per card ($1 for a special cause and $1 to me for supplies).  I always try to use some of my "retired" supplies when I make these cards.

I also like to make most of them pretty simple so that anyone can go up there and do it.  The hardest part about this card was to remember to punch the flower out of the black mat before adhering the dsp layer.  I think this punch coordinated nicely with the patterned paper.

Wedding season is upon us!  I really like this card as it could be an anniversary or wedding card.  I love love love the butterfly stamp and punch and try to use them any chance I get.

And lastly, graduation will be here any day now.  You can also use this card for someone who got a promotion or even for a demonstrator!  I have this saying on my craft room wall....love it!

Lotus Blossom....grey tones...AWESOME!

Who doesn't love the new Lotus Blossom stamp set?!?!  There are so many possibilities you can do with this set.  Yes I know it's a flower...and that's girly, but look how nice it is in the grey tones.  With the pop of yellow in the back, it makes a lovely sympathy card.

For the lightest layer, I used smokey slate and stamped it off.  When you stamp it off (to the side on scrap paper), the next image will be a lighter shade of the original.  Then when you stamp the second stamp, you'll use it full strength and that'll give it the faded look.  Lastly, you'll stamp the darkest color, Basic Gray, to create the shadows of the flower.  I also stamped the stem in basic grey for some contrast to the base of the flower.

I love the simplicity of just adding the doily behind the card.  You don't have to do much to it either.  And since you get 24 Tea Lace Paper Doilies in a pack and you only need half of one, you'll have plenty left to use elsewhere.

I used the Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape under the Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon for another "layer" to the card.  I just love the bold black and "clear" stripe of the washi tape...it isn't just for Valentine's Day!

These are the two cards I got from Leadership swaps.  The left is from Lisa Pressley and the right is from Heather Wnek.  They are fellow demonstrators.  I took both ideas and combined them.  Love it!
